Impact of Sanjivanithon - Ravi Prakash SiliconAndhra Sanjivani Multi Speciality Hospital

Sanjivanithon -  Impact

The impact of crowd funded campaign on a television news channel like TV9 was extraordinary. In the history of broadcast journalism in India for the first time a TV channel executed a fund raiser to support the cause of a multi speciality hospital in Kuchipudi village without sponsors.

For the past four months TV9 and Ravi Prakash Foundation took up the cause of health for one and all as a challenge. Non-stop LIVE telecast of the fundraiser was done in three different stages to raise seventeen crores for Sanjeevani hospital. Through Ravi Prakash Foundation the CEO of TV9 set an example to society of how good causes should and can be supported. Ravi Prakash through his Foundation contributed a sum of 4 crores. This made him the highest contributor for this good cause and today the hospital has been named Ravi Prakash Siliconandhra Sanjivani hospital. The entire campaign on TV was done in collaboration with Siliconandhra.

Siliconandhra is a non - profit, non- political, non - religious, cultural and community organization which promotes art and dance among Telugu speaking people in the US.

Regarding the campaign awareness was created using promos, feature stories, half an hour programs, sound bytes, scrolls and other graphic elements on screen. The impact of this campaign has set a precedent of how crowd funding can be done by a broadcast media for a good cause. Many donors happened to be viewers of TV9 who came forward to support this wonderful cause. Today the surrounding villages of Kuchipudi will have a multi speciality hospital and the people will no longer have to rely on Vijayawada hospitals which used to be the closest delivering health facilities to them.
